Authors intending to submit to the Indian Journal of Neighbourhood Studies are requested to ensure that their manuscripts conform to the journal’s academic, ethical, and formatting requirements. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal or publication at the time of submission.
The journal welcomes manuscripts that demonstrate clarity of purpose, rigour of analysis, proper engagement with relevant literature, sound scholarship, and compliance with accepted standards of citation and publication ethics.
- Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the online submission portal.
- Submit an anonymised manuscript and a separate title page containing the article title, author names, affiliations, corresponding-author details, and ORCID iDs.
- Include a 150–200-word abstract stating the research problem, approach or method, principal findings or argument, and original contribution, followed by five to seven keywords.
- Use in-text citation with references in Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition (author–date). Submit in Microsoft Word with consecutively numbered tables and figures, complete captions, sources, and permissions where applicable. A style guide is attached.
- Provide declarations on funding, conflicts of interest, research ethics or consent, and data availability, where applicable.
- Ensure that you have obtained any necessary permission from copyright holders for reproducing any illustrations, tables, figures, or lengthy quotations previously published elsewhere.
- Disclose any use of generative AI or automated tools in writing, translation, coding, data analysis, or image preparation. Authors remain fully responsible for accuracy, citations, originality, and integrity.
- All manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism-detection software, with a permissible similarity index of up to 15 per cent, subject to editorial scrutiny. The use of AI tools must comply with Chanakya University norms and be appropriately disclosed.
- Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, not under review elsewhere, and compliant with recognised publication-ethics standards.
